Senior Software Engineer in Test

PatientKeeper, now part of HCA, the largest provider of healthcare services in the U.S., is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join our talented team.


Our team develops and maintains a unique suite of applications that physicians use to take care of their patients.  What’s so unique?  In an industry where EMRs are viewed by many physicians as barrier to care, physicians love their PatientKeeper.  


As a member of the performance and automation team, you will ensure that no performance issues make it out of the development process and into production environments. This entails testing new and existing functionality and comparing results with baselines from previous releases. The  Senior SET will work closely with other team members to conduct risk assessments on any changes and to ensure all required functionality is included. You will work with a variety of tools for both creating automation and analyzing results. The areas of coverage could include web portal, mobile platforms, and backend ETL functionality.



  • Create and maintain performance test scripts
  • Analyze results of performance testing and report findings to leadership
  • Collaborate with PM, QA, DEV to identify functionality that needs to be evaluated in new releases
  • Work with services team to identify and resolve performance issues in production systems
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in C/S (or related field) or equivalent work experience
  • Expert understanding in performance testing methodologies (load, capacity, scalability, stress)
  • 6+ years using automated load tools (LoadRunner, NeoLoad, JMeter, Grinder, etc.)
  • At least 4 years of coding experience (C++, Java, Ruby, JS, etc)
  • Proficient understanding of HTTP, AJAX, Web Services, REST
  • Understanding how to read and gather Oracle metrics, monitoring (AWR, ADDM, stats pack, etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of the inner workings of Java and JVM technology
  • Experience with SQL tuning
  • Proficient understanding of APM tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, CA, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge in automation tools (Selenium, QuickTest, Perfecto, etc.) including using XPath
  • Basic knowledge of database administration
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows administration and scripting
  • Experience using a bug tracking system like Jira and source code control systems like SVN, GIT
  • Able to demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills, good communication skills, teamwork, and a positive attitude
  • Possess an innate curiosity, ability to overcome obstacles, boldness of thinking, capable of innovative solutions and a commitment to excellence
Desired Experience
  • Proficient understanding of code profiling and related tools (JProfiler, YourKit, JMX, MemoryAnalyzer, etc.)
